The founding of the United States of America was by the providence of God. Many decades of Americans have proudly and gratefully referred to it as “One Nation Under God”. Anyone watching the evening news has to wonder, does that pledge still ring as true today as it had for previous generations?

This posting isn’t to advocate the church jumping into the political arena, but anyone following the news will readily recognize that evil has entered the public arena unchallenged, even to the highest levels of government. And sadly, even into our educational system from the universities to the lowest grade levels.

Something to ponder and even pray about.

We are not engaged in a political battle but a moral one. Ephesians 6:12 is reflective of man’s history back to Adam & Eve. The “powers of this dark world” always existed, but to different degrees, and is readily evident today. Politics serves as a cloak to mask those “dark powers”, which are determined to destroy the Judeo-Christian values America was founded on. If the Holy Spirit removes His restraint, they will succeed. Can we pray our way out of it? Only if we as a people and nation turn back to God.

If the USA had not participated in WWII, the Axis, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, most likely would have won. But by God’s grace the US stepped up to the challenge, defeating those dark power. Are we the same Nation today?

Isaiah 44:2, tells us that the unborn child is special in God’s sight. The “Dark Powers” in Eph. 6:12 are as prevalent today as some continue to protest the Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, and sadly, even certain churches have joined in protesting the Court’s ruling, while turning a blind eye to Scripture.

The same dark powers that led the world to WWII, are evident today, in that sanctity of life is still under attack, which is why Christian participation via the ballot box is essential in the November 2022 and 2024 elections.

The Founders of the United States decreed that government and religion should not be intertwined. They did not prohibit nor oppose the free exercise of religion. The First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a government sponsored or national church like in England.

President Washington stated that without biblical values it is impossible “to rightly govern” a nation. If Christians stand back from politics, those who hate God and Christianity will gladly fill that void, both at the ballot box and running for office—giving them the authority and power to totally change our Nation; something we may be beginning to see. What does history itself teach us? The following slides explain…

Adolf Hitler rose to power via the ballot box based on promises of wellbeing, but instead, he assumed total power as Fuhrer. Before we say it can’t happen here, look at the abuse of Power used against former President Donald Trump’s home by the DOJ/FBI.

In post WWI Germany, Adolf Hitler ran for political office and was elected as chancellor, then president, which placed him in a position to assume full power and control over both people and nation. Separation of church and state is a founding value of the United States, but not a state void of biblical values, as clearly stated by President George Washington. The First Amendment in the Constitution prohibits a national church, not suppression of religion or worship. When God-fearing people sit on the sidelines, evil will step forward to fill those elected offices, as it did in Nazi Germany beginning at the ballot box.

The “powers of darkness” in Eph 6:12, prevailed through Hitler, leading to death camps and other atrocities, even against young children and infants. The church failed to cry out in Nazi Germany. Not only did they fail, but some also cooperated with Hitler. What about churches that support abortion on demand? Is there a correlation? I think so.

The church’s failure—both Lutheran and Catholic—to oppose Nazi evil, led to the loss of millions of innocent lives and the eventual destruction of Germany itself.

There are many lessons in history, just as with Hitler. We can learn from them or repeat them, which we will if Christians stand on the sidelines.

How far has the American culture drifted from its founding Judeo-Christian values? Read a daily newspaper or watch the evening new and the answer becomes readily apparent.

The ballot box—and prayer—will determine the direction of America’s future. Christians have a choice to make in the November 2022 congressional elections, which will very well determine the direction of the Nation by either putting the brakes on destructive policies or allowing the rulers of the dark world “to take it full steam ahead”.

If God-fearing men and women do nothing, evil men will gladly fill those vacancies. In today’s world, evil is often clocked in politics, but evil, nevertheless. As we see in the Old Testament, God often works through His people. I served as an elder in the church, and as a mayor/council member, including leadership positions at the county and regional level, seeing the line between good and evil and how good must resist evil or evil will prevail.

Historian, professor and author, Victor Davis Hanson’s latest book, “The American Descent into Madness – Nation and State” includes the above noted statement. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. He also stated, “We’re reversing civilization by choice.” Does that concern you? It concerns me.

All of which takes me here. If we can’t trust the integrity of our own government, then what? These are individual choices by the voters, for better or for worse. The stakes are high. Our Nation’s future rests on those decisions, one candidate at a time.

The DOJ is the upper arm of our judicial system, which includes the FBI. It's supposed to be just and impartial. Yet, there are claims that it has become an enforcement arm of the political system. Such abuse of power, gave pre-WWII Germany, the Gestapo; and Soviet Union, the KGB.

We have seen corruption of power throughout history, from the Roman Empire to Nazi Germany. Political “Power” is often gained through the ballot box as it was in pre-Nazi Germany; and a lack of interest by the voters leads to absolute power that corrupts absolutely.

Aug. 9th, FBI, armed with automatic weapons, raided former President Trump’s home in Mar-a-Largo. They even denied his attorney access to oversee the raid or enter the house. Sen. Ted Cruz described it this way: “current Administration weaponized DOJ & FBI to target political enemies, looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election." Some see the raid as an attempt to plant evidence rather than find evidence, sufficiently to obstruct President Trump’s run for reelection in 2024.

If the American people do not address these issues in the November 2022 and 2024 elections, America as we know it will slowly erode and eventually cease to exist. We have already seen dramatic change in less than two years. Do you believe that can happen? I do. Let me explain why…

History shows us that no nation can survive with open borders. This chart shows the increase of immigration in the USA, and percentage of immigrants that make up the US population from 1900 & 2020. What’s more telling is the actual number of immigrants, 78 million that are known, not counting those that are unknown which could be millions, increasing daily across an open southern border. Will America lose its culture, since most of those immigrants do not assimilate but form their own respective cultural enclaves. Even voting ballots are written in their languages.

In the early 1900s, immigrants landing at Elis Island, NY, were tested medically, and had to show proof that they could support themselves. Most took English lesson to assimilate, including my paternal-great-grandparents and maternal-grandparents. All of whom came to America legally, to become part of America Dream, not change it.

This shows the known cost of illegal immigration, and how things are out of control with a cost exceeding $26 billion in one year alone. It also states that there are almost 26 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. Some believe it is a lot higher because many are never seen.

An increasing number of America’s children have turned against the U.S.A. How many generations will it take before American youth hate their nation and consequently it’s no longer a cohesive Nation of any kind?

When our own children hate their Country.

Youth seeking another form of government than what we have. Where are they learning this? It begins at the university level and filters down through the entire educational system. There are books that explain why and how.

Quite a while back, way before all of this “stuff”, I often wondered why there wasn’t even a hint of the United States--being the most powerful and influential country in the world--in the Book of Revelation to resist the rise of the Antichrist? Now I know why. If the US continues on its current path, it will not be powerful or influential enough to even matter on the world scene.

Many, if not most, may see the current “State of the Union”, as a political battle between Red and Blue. If one pays attention to what’s at stake, it goes beyond politics as noted on the following slide.

In Luke 11:17, Jesus warns us of the consequences of being a divided Nation.

Lincoln’s now-famous “house divided” line, drawn from the Bible, was actually part of a campaign speech he delivered at the 1858 Illinois Republican State Convention. Lincoln, then a relatively unknown politician, had just won the nomination to run for president.

Why Lincoln's 'House Divided' Speech was so important. At a time when many white politicians wanted to compromise on slavery, Abraham Lincoln said that wasn't possible. Perhaps it was this very speech that got him elected? As stated by Lincoln, only one side can and will prevail. What side will that be?

We can look at political events all we want, but unless we overlay them on biblical warnings, nothing will even change, but are prone to get worse. The events happening today seem to fit biblical prophecy of the End Times. How should we respond? Are we seeing “the beginning of the end”, as noted by Pastor Adrian Rogers in his 35 minute message?
